Understanding the relationship between Thickness & Density |
when it comes to choosing a memory foam topper. |
Normal thicknesses for memory foam toppers range from 2 inches to 4 inches. In our standard selection, we have offer 3 densities to choose from. The greater the density, the lesser the amount of the tiny air bubbles. In other words, the Regular Density is the softest and your body will sink in further. This at first may seem appealing, but in reality you probably won't want to sink in too much. Remember, it is a topper, so your mattress will absorb a portion of your body curves, even with a 2 inch topper of Regular Density. For most people, you want enough density and thickness so as to not compress the topper down to the mattress. If you sleep flat on your back or stomach, you will not compress the topper as much as if you mainly sleep on your side. Of course a small framed person or a child will naturally not compress the topper as much as a much more large framed person. So, when you take these factors into account, you can see the benefits of different thicknesses and densities. Natually, the greater thckness the price increases as does the greater density (more air bubbles cost less). If you are still not sure what's likely right for you, I would recommend a 3 inch thickness and the Higher Density combination for a one size fit's all catagory.
